Overwatch 2 Sombra Rework

In the ever-evolving world of Overwatch 2, Sombra continues to be a pivotal character with her newly updated kit. For Season 13, developers at Blizzard have revamped her abilities, enhancing her role on the battlefield and offering players a refreshed perspective on her capabilities.

The updates introduce several strategic elements that redefine how Sombra interacts with both allies and adversaries. As players adapt to these changes, they'll find new opportunities to exploit her enhanced potential in various match scenarios.

Updated Kit for Sombra in Overwatch 2

The recent rework of Sombra in Overwatch 2 has significantly altered her abilities, impacting her role in the game. Hack now no longer ends her stealth mode but does reveal her position, and the duration of the hacked ability lockout is reduced from 1.5 to 1.0 seconds. The Translocator ability has its cooldown increased from 5 seconds to 7 seconds, requiring careful planning for escape or repositioning.

EMP, Sombra’s ultimate ability, now costs 12% more, making strategic use more crucial. The reconfiguration of Stealth means it is no longer passive. It now activates with the Translocator and lasts for 5 seconds. Stealth now has a timer visible around the reticle, and taking damage reveals Sombra for 1 second rather than ending her stealth entirely.

With the return of the Opportunist passive, Sombra enjoys a 20% weapon damage increase against hacked targets. This passive also allows her to see critically injured foes through walls, helping her identify and capitalize on vulnerable targets. This rework requires Sombra players to adapt their strategies in exploiting her hacking potential while maintaining battlefield awareness.

Changes to Sombra's Abilities in Overwatch 2

The latest updates to Sombra in Overwatch 2 have altered her gameplay significantly. Stealth is now more effective as an escape mechanism since taking damage no longer reduces her movement speed. Additionally, executing a Hack no longer breaks Stealth, although it temporarily makes Sombra visible to enemies. These changes enhance her tactical versatility.

Opportunist Passive Returns in Overwatch 2 with Sombra Rework

The latest update in Overwatch 2 Season 13 brings back Sombra’s Opportunist passive ability, enhancing her effectiveness on the battlefield. This passive boosts her weapon damage by 20% against targets that she has hacked, making her a formidable opponent. Additionally, it grants her the ability to perceive critically injured enemies through walls, facilitating more strategic pursuits or pings.

These adjustments to Sombra were suggested before the season launch, with possible modifications to her Stealth duration hinted by lead gameplay designer Alec Dawson. The changes to Sombra are part of a broader set of updates in Season 13, which also includes adjustments like nerfs to characters such as Ramattra and Reinhardt, as well as buffs for heroes like Mauga, Sojourn, and Hanzo.
