Mobius Digital has announced the final major update for their critically acclaimed exploration game, Outer Wilds. This patch marks the end of significant post-launch updates, bringing crucial features such as the much-awaited X-axis inversion for camera controls, alongside numerous fixes and improvements across all platforms.
Originally released in 2019, Outer Wilds captivated players with its unique gameplay centered around a 22-minute time loop. The latest update aims to enhance the gaming experience for players on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch, while Mobius Digital looks ahead to new projects, closing a significant chapter in their development journey.
Outer Wilds Patch Notes for June 10, 2024 Update
New Feature: X-axis inversion for Movement and Camera Views
Due to significant demand, a highly requested feature has been added. Players can now invert the Movement and Camera Look along the horizontal axis. This feature promises to enhance the gameplay experience for those who prefer this control scheme.

Gameplay
- Achieving the milestone of flying outside the solar system now correctly triggers a dialog with Slate.
- The chances of sudden death from falling objects in the Hanging City have been decreased.
- Portable light sources now behave consistently when crossing specific boundaries.
- New functionality allows a specific locator to be viewed from a distance using the Scout.
- Instances where players could become stuck in a slow walk have been addressed.
- An issue causing the game to fail to return to the main menu after quitting while viewing slides has been fixed.
- Collision-related issues have been resolved.
Art & Visuals
- The position of the Hourglass Twins on a holographic map has been corrected.
- Inconsistent visuals for Nomai child writings on Giant's Deep have been fixed.
Tech
- Players can now invert the horizontal axis for Movement and Camera Look.
UI
- Descriptions of settings now update properly when hovering over them with a mouse.
- The standard UI size has been slightly reduced to align with pre-Patch 14 proportions.
- Lock-On prompts now resize appropriately based on UI Size mode.
- Selection arrows no longer obscure text in the Options menu.
- A duplicated prompt for the ghost matter camera in the Hearthian village has been removed.
- The Wake Up prompt no longer overlaps the Controller Disconnected message.
- The Ship Log now fits correctly when the Aspect Ratio is set to 5:4.
- Closing a Ship Log entry no longer results in a white image.
- In Chinese, the „Mark on HUD“ text no longer overflows.
- The size of the „Leave Menu“ button in „Switch Profile“ has been adjusted.
- Various minor UI issues have been remedied.
Text & Localization
- Issues with missing Ship Log text in some languages with Regular UI size like Russian and Polish have been fixed.
- Overflowing text problems in various languages have been addressed.
- A minor language error has been corrected in the English texts.
- Missing Echoes of the Eye playtesters have been added to the credits.
- Incorrect Japanese characters in the credits have been corrected.
PC Only
- The gamma calibration screen can now be exited using the mouse.
- Mouse smoothing is now independent of framerate, requiring potential adjustments to mouse sensitivity.
- Another attempt to fix the „lock on“ issue when the game loses focus has been made.
- The minimum sensitivity setting for mouse movement has been increased.
- PS5 DualSense Controller users can now map the Touchpad button to actions.

- Using the signalscope at a certain camp no longer propels the player at high speeds.
- A hidden passage on Ember Twin is now less visible from a distance.
