LOL Patch 14.15 Notes Preview

Matt “Riot Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison, the Lead Gameplay Designer for League of Legends, recently shared a sneak peek of the upcoming patch 14.15. This patch introduces significant updates, particularly focusing on the Boots item, which is essential for nearly all champions, with the exception of a few.

In addition to item adjustments, the patch will also implement changes to specific champions. Three champions will receive buffs, while five will experience nerfs, reflecting Riot's ongoing efforts to balance the gameplay and ensure a fair experience for all players.

Updates to Boots in League of Legends

Riot Phroxzon shared insights on the planned changes to Boots. Defensive boots have been dominant in higher-level games while less appealing in lower-level play. This update aims to address this imbalance. For example, Mercury's Treads is being scaled back due to its excessive strength compared to other options. Magic Resist items that incorporate its components will receive buffs to balance out these changes. Sorcerer's Shoes and Ionian Boots of Lucidity will remain viable choices.

Adjustments to the ADC Ecosystem in LoL patch 14.15

Following the last patch, 14.14, efforts continue to scale back the ADC early game. Statikk Shiv, Kraken Slayer, and the Fleet Footwork keystone will see nerfs to diminish early game healing and reduce the impact of one-item power spikes. Additionally, some attack speed reductions on Plated Steelcaps will be rolled back, bolstering fighters and tanks against ADCs in the late game. Riot anticipates these changes will significantly impact double ADC compositions prevalent in high-level play.

Balancing the State of AP in LoL patch 14.15

The focus will be on balancing items like Blackfire Torch, Fated Ashes, and Liandry's Anguish. The goal is not to over-nerf AP junglers but to ensure the jungle role remains diverse. Over time, this is expected to lead to more varied and effective team compositions.
