How to Get the Sapwood Blade

Genshin Impact's version 3.0 brought exciting changes with the introduction of Dendro element reactions, Bloom and Catalyze. These new mechanics offer players fresh strategies to tackle enemies.

In the wake of Sumeru's release, the Sapwood Blade emerged as a new craftable sword. This weapon is especially suited for the Traveler, enhancing their role as a Dendro support character within Catalyze teams.

Steps to Craft the Sapwood Blade in Genshin Impact

First Steps: Clearing the Woodland Encounter and The Lost Child Quests

Begin by following the eastern path from Gandharva Ville, where you will encounter Rana surrounded by Fungi. Rana will ask for assistance in clearing a nearby Withering Zone. After clearing the zone, she will guide you to Vilmara Village to inquire about the plant-like creatures known as Aranara.

Once you have completed the task in Vilmara Village, further responsibilities await. These include clearing other zones and tackling spinocrocodiles. The following day, you will need to rescue Iotham, a village child, and bring him back safely. This will lead to meeting Arana, an Aranara who helped Rana. Arana will then provide guidance to unlock their unique world.

Traversing the Dream Nursery Quest

Return to Vilmara Village, where Amadhiah will gift you a Vintage Lyre. Use a Waverider to reach Vanarana by following the green traces along your route. Once there, equip the Vintage Lyre and play the melody (fa, mi, so, fa, do) under a peculiar wooden arch.

Passing through the Phantasmal Gate, you must collect 15 Phantasmal Seeds within 90 seconds, picking up each seed to refresh your time. After gathering the seeds, interact with the gate to finish the trial. Then, you will need to play the tune again near a stone statue, entering the home of Arama, who explains earning the Aranara's trust is necessary to access Vanarana.

Complete three tasks marked on your map, ascend a cliff to meet Arama, and learn about the Vanagni threat. Descend to defeat four Pyro Whopperflowers. Finally, Arama will lead you back to the village to play the Lyre before „Silapna,“ a stone statue. Entering Vanarana’s dream world leads you to Araja, detailing how to save Rana.

Acquiring the Weapon Blueprint

Araja provides the quest item „Stories of You and the Aranara.“ Follow the four-leaf sigil trail near Araja's residence into a cave where Aravinay, a merchant, will sell you the „Tale of the Desert,“ the blueprint for the Sapwood Blade.

Aravinay offers four other weapons obtainable through specific quest items during the Aranyaka questline, enabling players to unlock these with additional collections.

Gathering Materials for the Sapwood Blade

Visit any Blacksmith and choose the „I’d like something made“ option. Learn „The Tale of the Desert“ in the crafting menu for the Sapwood Blade to become craftable. The required materials to craft the Sapwood Blade are as follows:

  • Midlander Sword Billet
  • 50 Crystal Chunks
  • 50 White Iron Chunks

Midlander Sword Billets are obtainable by farming the Sumeru Trounce domain or crafting at a crafting bench. In the crafting bench's „Convert“ tab, exchange one Northlander Sword Billet and two Dream Solvents to acquire a Midlander Sword Billet.

The Sapwood Blade, like other weapons, can be refined using duplicates, enhancing its capabilities in the character or weapon menu.

Stats and Ability of the Sapwood Blade

The Sapwood Blade is most effective when used by a support character in a Dendro-associated team setup. Its unique ability, Forest Sanctuary, generates a Leaf of Consciousness when a Dendro reaction is activated. This leaf provides a buff to Elemental Mastery, ranging from 60 to 120, depending on the weapon’s refinement. It's important to note that only the active character can obtain this buff, so ensure your main DPS collects the leaf.
