CS2 FOV Viewmodel Guide

FOV (Field of View)

Adjusting the Field of View (FOV) in Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) can be crucial for enhancing the gameplay experience. The viewmodel FOV range can be set between 40 and 68. It manages the gun's positioning on the screen relative to the player’s perspective. A higher FOV value makes the gun appear further away from the player, revealing more of the environment. This can potentially reduce blind spots and allow players to identify enemies more quickly. The command for setting the FOV is viewmodel_fov X, where X represents the desired value.

Viewmodel Position

Modifying the viewmodel position allows players to customize the placement of their weapon on the screen, providing better comfort and preference alignment during gameplay. The position can be adjusted along three axes:

  • Left/Right: viewmodel_offset_x Y moves the gun horizontally.
  • Up/Down: viewmodel_offset_y Z shifts the gun vertically.
  • Forward/Backward: viewmodel_offset_z W alters the gun's distance from the player.

These adjustments enable players to find a viewmodel setting that minimizes visual distractions and fits personal comfort levels. If the settings become erratic, using viewmodel_presetpos 3 can restore the defaults. Embracing the principle „if it looks good, it is good“ helps reach an optimal setup.
