All Teams Qualified for the BLAST Austin Major
The stage is set for an intense competition as the world's top 60 teams are set to compete for a coveted spot in the final eight at the Austin Major this June. With recent updates to the Valve Regional Standings, the line-up for the upcoming tournament is becoming clear, outlining which teams will advance based on their performances earlier in the year.
The tournament is structured into three distinct stages, with teams receiving invites based on their achievements throughout the opening months of 2025. The new format implemented for the BLAST Austin Major highlights a departure from previous CS2 Majors, adding an element of freshness and excitement to the esports event.
How is the BLAST Austin Major Organized?
The BLAST Austin Major is structured into multiple stages, each with its own distinct format. Initially, in Stage 1, 16 teams make it through from the Major Regional Qualifiers. These teams include 6 from Europe, 4 from the Americas, and 4 from Asia. Utilizing the Swiss stage format, teams face elimination after three losses, while securing three wins advances them to the next round. All matches in this phase are held in a best-of-three format. From this stage, 8 teams move forward to compete in Stage 2.
Stage 2 introduces 8 additional teams invited based on their VRS rankings as of April 7. The structure remains the same, with the Swiss format determining progression and elimination. Again, teams play best-of-three matches, and only 8 teams will succeed to Stage 3.
Finally, the remaining 8 teams that reach the playoffs engage in a single-elimination bracket. This final competitive stage also features best-of-three matches, with teams seeded according to their performance in the prior stage.
