Official OWCS Anthem
As the Overwatch Champions Series (OWCS) prepares for its inaugural World Finals, anticipation is in the air at DreamHack Stockholm. This landmark event, set to begin on November 22, promises an exciting conclusion to a season filled with competitive spirit and high stakes.
In celebration of this momentous occasion, Blizzard has introduced two new musical tracks for the series. These compositions include the OWCS anthem, which aims to capture the essence of the tournament and enhance the atmosphere of the finals.
Anthem of the OWCS
At the DreamHack Stockholm event, the anthem of the Overwatch Champions Series (OWCS) will serve as the victory track. Each time a team secures a win in Overwatch 2, this track resonates, celebrating their triumph and energizing the crowd.
Overwatch 2 esports soundtrack: OWCS Overtime
The OWCS Overtime track brings a modern sound to the Overwatch 2 esports scene, crafted with an emphasis on drum and bass rhythms. This dynamic composition is designed to maintain the audience's engagement, fluctuating in intensity to complement the gameplay and commentary. Composer Justin Welgraven, known for his previous collaborations with Blizzard, including work on World of Warcraft, has once again brought his expertise to the table.
Incorporating elements that are distinctly Overwatch, the track moves away from traditional sports league themes, offering a sound that is true to the game's unique atmosphere. Sean Miller, head of Overwatch 2 esports, highlighted the importance of this authenticity. According to him, the primary goal was not to mimic the style of a typical sports league but to create a piece that resonates with the game itself. This approach ensures that the music remains a fitting backdrop to the competitive excitement of Overwatch 2.
Artistic Highlights of the OWCS World Finals
Included among the novel features of Overwatch 2 is a fresh array of artwork now visible on the main menu. Paired with the sounds of enthusiastic fans, this visual display showcases popular characters such as Tracer, Mei, and Junkrat adorned in the vibrant hues associated with Florida Mayhem. This esports team clinched the victory in the ultimate Overwatch League Championship tournament held in 2023, marking a momentous achievement. With the transition from the Overwatch League to the Overwatch Champions Series at the beginning of 2024, these artistic elements provide a vibrant celebration of the competition’s legacy and the new era being ushered in by the OWCS.
