Elden Ring Update Patch Notes

FromSoftware has rolled out Elden Ring update 1.12 to set the stage for the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, which promises to expand the game with new areas, weapons, bosses, and quests. This update introduces new features, weapon adjustments, and bug fixes designed to enhance the overall player experience.

Elden Ring, known for its challenging combat and rich lore, allows players to explore a vast open world as the Tarnished. The new update also includes five additional hairstyles and quality-of-life improvements, such as enhanced inventory management and better navigation functions. The update aims to ensure a seamless transition as players gear up for the highly anticipated expansion.

New Features

  • Added support for the upcoming SHADOW OF THE ERDTREE DLC.
  • Five new hairstyles are now available for character creation and customization.
  • Introduced the „Map Functions Menu“ in the Map Menu.
  • New enhancements to Summoning Pool:
    • Active Summoning Pools will carry over to NG+.
    • Individual Summoning Pools can be toggled on or off in the new Map Functions Menu.

New Inventory Features:

  • Recently obtained items will be marked with an exclamation mark (!).
  • A tab for „Recent Items“ has been added for reviewing newly obtained items.
  • Display settings can now be customized via the Display tab in the system menu.
  • Players can summon the spectral steed during the Elden Beast boss fight.
  • Colosseum sessions will now replenish crafted consumable items used during battle.
  • Added Arabic language support.

Steam-only New Features

  • New keyboard and mouse settings:
    • Added a setting to control the lock-on change threshold with mouse controls.
    • New settings for cursor movement behavior in the map menu.
    • Key assignments for opening the map can now be customized in the Key Settings menu.

PvP-exclusive Balance Adjustments

Note: These adjustments do not affect single-player or cooperative play.

  • Post-madness and sleep status effects will now cause a temporary halt in the build-up of these effects.
  • Increased poise damage for specific weapon types when attacking other players:
    • Greatswords, Colossal Swords, Curved Greatswords, Greataxes, Hammers, Flails, Great Hammers, Colossal Weapons, Great Spears, Halberds.
  • Adjusted poise damage for certain dual-wield attacks against other players with the following weapon types:
    • Greatswords, Axes, Great Axes, Hammers, Great Hammers, Halberds, Reapers.
  • Reduced poise damage for some attacks and decreased the effectiveness of „Baldachin's Blessing“ and „Radiant Baldachin's Blessing“ in PvP.

Weapons Adjustments

  • Increased poise damage for axes when used against other players.
  • Damage from dual-wield attacks has been reduced for all weapon types.
  • Increased and decreased poise damage for specific weapon types during PvP encounters:
    • Increased: Axes, Hammers, Halberds, Reapers
    • Decreased: Daggers, Straight Swords, Thrusting Swords, Heavy Thrusting Swords, Curved Swords, Katanas, Twinblades, Axes, Spears, Reapers, Whips, Fists, Claws
  • Decreased damage from Heavy Thrusting Swords and adjusted the effect on poise value for specific attack motions.

Skill Adjustments

  • Spinning Slash: Damage reduced.
  • Flaming Strike: Damage reduced.
  • Rain of Arrows: Damage and poise damage reduced.
  • Cursed-Blood Slash: Damage reduced.
  • Transient Moonlight: Damage reduced.
  • Lightning Storm: Poise damage reduced.
  • Spearcall Ritual: Poise damage reduced.
  • Ancient Lightning Spear: Damage reduced.
  • Radahn's Rain: Damage and poise damage reduced.
  • Spinning Weapon: Reduced animation motion for stun effects.

Incantations Adjustments

  • Black Flame's Protection: Reduced physical block rate.
  • Bestial Sling: Reduced poise damage.

General Balance Adjustments

These changes impact both PvE and PvP.

  • Adjusted turning speed for dual-wielded Heavy Thrusting Swords.
  • Enhanced Dexterity scaling with Ashes of War for corresponding weapon affinities.
  • Increased stamina consumption when guarding against attacks from Greatswords, Curved Greatswords, Great Axes, and Great Hammers.
  • Increased attack speed and damaged charged attacks for various weapon types including Axes, Greataxes, and some Colossal Weapons.
  • Adjusted attack speeds, poise damage, and turning speed for specific weapon classes including Reapers, Whips, and Torches.

Armament Adjustments

  • Troll Knight's Sword: Increased damage.
  • Zamor Curved Sword: Increased damage and movement distance for some attacks.
  • Forked Hatchet: Increased damage.
  • Ripple Blade: Reduced status buildup scaling with Arcane.
  • Serpent-Hunter: Increased crouching attack speed.
  • Ripple Crescent Halberd: Reduced status buildup scaling with Arcane.
  • Albinauric Staff: Increased attribute scaling.
  • Adjustments to several other staves and seals to increase attribute scaling.

Skill Adjustments

  • Kick: Increased poise amount.
  • Spinning Slash: Reduced status buildup.
  • Storm Assault, Stormcaller, Storm Stomp, Loretta's Slash: Reduced poise generation speed.
  • Glintblade Phalanx: Reduced poise damage.
  • Bloody Slash: Reduced poise generation speed.
  • Strong Shot, Sky Shot, Enchanted Shot: Increased attack speed.
  • Parry, Storm Wall, Thops's Barrier: Increased Parry hitbox generation speed.
  • Buckler Parry: Added attack recovery time.

Bug Fixes

  • Resolved various issues impacting gameplay experience, including exploits and glitches.

Steam-only Adjustments

  • Addressed specific issues unique to the Steam version of the game, ensuring a smoother experience for PC players.
